Cambridge Medical Writers connects trained medical writers with clients who need reliable medical content. Clients publish project briefs; writers apply through a three-stage vetting process (profile check, skills match, certificate verification) and sign the contract digitally. Cambridge Medical Writers is an online platform, operated from Nairobi, Kenya, that connects trained medical writers with clients who need high-quality medical content. Writers produce academic writing, medical articles, health and fitness blog content, medical journalism and regulatory or clinical documentation. The platform handles the full lifecycle of a writing engagement: clients publish briefs, writers apply through a three-stage vetting process, awarded work is managed under an escrow-protected contract, and approved submissions are paid to the writer's wallet for withdrawal via M-Pesa or other channels.
Eligibility and accounts. You must be 18 or older and provide accurate identity information. One account per person; duplicates may be frozen. You are responsible for activity on your account.
Nature of work. Writers submit only original work about medical issues — academic writing, article writing and medical blog content. Plagiarism, fabricated citations and misrepresentation of qualifications are serious violations.
Conduct. Respect other members in chats and community spaces. Harassment, spam, sharing client briefs outside the platform and off-platform payment attempts are prohibited.
Enforcement. Violations may result in frozen or suspended accounts. Suspended accounts may be reviewed through the platform's review process; a penalty fee may apply to lift a suspension.
Client obligations. Clients fund escrow at award time, provide clear briefs and review submissions fairly. Contract-cheating briefs and unlawful content are rejected.
When a project is awarded, the full payout moves into escrow immediately. Escrowed funds belong to neither party until acceptance: the client cannot withdraw them and the writer is paid only when the submission is approved. Reverted submissions return to the writer for revision. Disputes are mediated by platform admins, who consider the brief, chat history and delivered files. Abandoned projects return escrow to the client; unresponsive clients release escrow to the writer once the review window closes.
Clients top up via M-Pesa (instant STK push), PayPal, card, bank or crypto. Writers earn in USD and withdraw to M-Pesa or other supported channels; a minimum applies and a service fee is shown on every receipt. The admin's published payment details are the only official channels. Applying for projects may require an active subscription; the first application is free. Assessment entry is paid and a passing score earns a share of the reward pool. Writers are responsible for their own taxes.
Who we are. Cambridge Medical Writers operates this website and marketplace, published in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and GDPR-style good practice. Contact details are in the Contact section below.
Data we collect. Account data (name, email, secure password hash, photo, headline, bio, skills, languages, country, role); identity-verification data (government ID or passport photo, live selfie, certificates) collected only when you complete KYC; payment data (transactions, M-Pesa number or payout details); communication data (chats, support tickets, review requests); usage data (sessions, device type, last-seen, push tokens if you enable notifications). If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email and profile picture — we never post on your behalf and do not access other Google services.
How we use it. To create and secure accounts; verify identity before payments; operate escrow and payouts; show your profile in the writer directory (name, headline, bio, skills, languages, country, verified badge); send transactional notifications; prevent fraud and abuse; meet legal obligations.
Sharing. We never sell personal data. We share data only with payment processors (M-Pesa/Smartpay, Paystack, PayPal) to move money, our hosting and authentication infrastructure (Convex), Google if you use Google sign-in, and platform administrators who moderate content and review KYC documents. KYC documents are visible to administrators only — never to other users.
Public visibility. Your directory profile (name, photo, headline, bio, skills, languages, country, verified badge) is visible to other signed-in users. Your email address is never shown publicly in the directory, to protect you from spam.
Retention. Account and transaction records are kept while your account is active and up to 7 years after closure for financial record-keeping. KYC documents are kept while your account is active. Chats are kept until you delete them; view-once attachments are purged shortly after viewing.
Security. Passwords are stored as salted hashes; sessions use secure httpOnly cookies; uploads travel over TLS; payment keys are server-side secrets never exposed to the browser.
Your rights. You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to certain processing. Contact us (see Contact) — we respond within 30 days. You may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya).
Children. The platform is not for under-18s and we do not knowingly collect their data. International transfers: our infrastructure may process data outside Kenya under standard contractual safeguards.
We use one strictly-necessary httpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in, plus local storage for your theme preference and dismissed notices. No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, no third-party analytics beacons — so there is no consent banner. Clearing cookies simply signs you out.
Certificate application fees are refunded in full if the admin rejects your application. Top-ups are non-refundable once spent on awarded projects (funds sit in escrow protecting the writer); unspent balances can be withdrawn anytime. Duplicated deposits are refunded within 72 hours. Assessment fees are non-refundable after the test opens. Subscriptions can be cancelled before renewal.
Withdrawals require approved identity verification. You provide a government ID or passport photo and a live selfie; administrators compare them and never share documents with clients or other writers. Rejections always state a reason and can be resubmitted free. Submitting another person's documents means a permanent ban. KYC data is used solely for verification and legal compliance.
